Thermal or cold bridge

The terms thermal bridge and cold bridge both refer to the same thing, but among physicists the technical term for this phenomenon is thermal bridge. To understand the meaning of thermal bridge, it is necessary to know that cold is the description for a lack of energy. Energy, in turn, is caused by the movement of so-called elementary particles (atoms and molecules). The more of these particles move and transfer their energy to other particles, the more heat is generated. It also stays warm in a room if the wall material has a low particle density. Consequently, as the density increases, more heat is transferred to the outside via the walls, which means heat loss through this thermal bridge. Such thermal bridges mainly occur at window reveals, balconies or shutter boxes. The walls cool down more quickly at these points, water condensation forms and comes into contact with organic material. This creates ideal conditions for mold spores.
