A reveal is the vertical surface in a wall that forms the inner surface facing the opening in door and window openings. It is not visible from the outside. The surfaces of the reveal are often used to attach window and door frames to them, which then cover them. Plastered reveals can be protected by reinforcing the internal corners using metal plaster profiles or by attaching corner brackets. Soffits on clad façades are often clad with façade panels. These panels are usually made of aluminum or plastic and completely cover the reveal. In the case of vaults or arches, the inner, curved vault or arch surface lying above the impost or transom (last straight stone of the arch wall) applies.
